Snowmobiling & Snow Biking

Snowmobiling and snow biking open up a lot of country. Terrain, group spacing, and a clear plan still set the limits.

Think beyond the next climb: the slope overhead, the place your partners are waiting, and the consequences of a stuck machine all belong in the conversation.

Read terrain above you

Gentle ground can sit below an avalanche path. Identify where a slide could come from and reach.

Prepare riders and machines

Bring appropriate rescue equipment on each rider, practice using it, and plan fuel, mechanical, communication, and weather contingencies.

Check access

Use current land-manager information and Utah OHV resources for routes, closures, and requirements. A groomed trail is not a stability assessment.
